The Call – “Come Home!”
Definition of Home: The Holy land, the promised land, the land of milk and honey, the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the children of Israel by God.
God’s people, the children of Israel, have been scattered to the four corners of the earth. They have been persecuted, enslaved, murdered by the hundreds of thousands, and the list of atrocities committed against them continues. Why would a people so gifted and creative, that have blessed the countries of the world in so many ways, be so hated?
Looking to the Bible we find a man named Abram that had a heart for God. God made a covenant with him and Abram became Abraham. Abraham followed God’s instructions and went to Mt. Moriah, building an altar to God. He placed his promised son Isaac on the altar and was willing to sacrifice Isaac to God. God saw that Abraham was obedient and provided a ram instead. Through this Abraham found great favor with God. As it is said in the book of Samuel, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.” The story of Abraham shows why Israel has favor with God.
God called Abraham friend and made him the father of God’s chosen people. They have blessed the world in many ways because of their favor with God. God promised his children Israel would inherit the land of milk and honey as stated in Isaiah 35 and would be a Holy Nation to whom God is married. Isaiah 54:5 says, “For your husband is your Maker, Adonai-Tzva’ot is His name. The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called the God of all the earth.” (CJB)
How important is Israel to God? How important is God and His will to you?
We must love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength, and our neighbor as ourselves. Likewise remembering that God is married to those who are suffering. E.g. struggling families, terror victims, the growing number of orphans, the wounded who cannot support their families. Most Israelis of age must serve in the Israeli military to defend their land, Israel. The threat that surrounds Israel has caused Israel’s defense budget to be stretched beyond its limits. If we know all of this what should we do for our Lord and those He is married to?
Please let us come together and serve our Lord and those He has called us to bless. Through obedience let us find favor as Abraham found favor. God, the creator of all things, wants to be our best friend as He was to Abraham.
“I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3 CJB)
“If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right-hand wither away! May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I fail to remember you, if I fail to count Jerusalem the greatest of all my joys.” (Psalms 137:5-6)
